Spring is in the air – finally!  After a fabulous call with a Style Coach client last week, I had white blazers on my mind.  As luck would have it, I happened upon a fabulous white blazer  at SportCheck, of all of the crazy places.  It looks polished and structured but is made out of yoga pants material. Yes, you read that right!   This blazer is the best of both worlds – comfortable AND polished looking!  (AND it was on sale – gotta love that too!)

Obviously, you can style this blazer in all of the traditional ways – with dress pants, over a dress, with a skirt – but blazers can be worn less formally too.  With jeans, a cute shoe and a scarf (if it’s chilly), a white blazer is a simple way to level up your wardrobe as you head out the door and back into the world. Think of it as an alternative to your jean jacket. Add a few simple accessories and a sheer lip colour and you’ll be turning heads!

HERE ARE 4 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR WHITE BLAZER FOR SPRING:

SOLID COLOUR FINE KNIT SWEATER:

My navy fine knit sweater happens to have a  contrasting white detail on the sleeve and waistband, which I love with the white blazer.  Warm enough to wear as a jacket with this sweater underneath on a chilly spring day, this is a fresh look for any occasion.  This would also look great with white denim or could be “work ready” with a navy dress pant.

Styled with white fashion sneakers and a layered fine necklace look along with a pair of aviator sunglasses.

LARGE SCALE FLORAL/PATTERN:

This large scale floral pattern silk top would typically have to wait for warmer days.  It is short sleeved and quite sheer but by adding this white blazer on top, the life of this fabulous top has been extended. Choosing to repeat a colour from the top in your shoe adds a bit of fun to this outfit.

Styled with dark denim, a red patent ballet flat and a chunky link necklace (which is actually 2 bracelets attached together) and matching hoop earring.

STRIPED TEE WITH A NOVELTY CUFF:

By bunching up the sleeve and pulling out the tie cuff on the shirt out, the blazer is given a completely different look.  This “bl-avy” (such a dark navy that it can be mistaken as black when coupled that way) and cream striped shirt looks super fresh with a black cropped pant and a silver metallic mule shoe.  Running errands never looked so good!

Styled with a mixed metal horn necklace (traditional with an edge) and a mixed metal arm party.

SMALL SCALE FLORAL/PATTERN:

This small scale floral pattern blouse has a touch of white in it that ties beautifully back to the blazer.  Again, quite sheer and a button front (when was the last time  that you wore a shirt with buttons?!), the seasonal life of this beauty is extended by pairing it this way.  Take a look in your closet at you “summer things” – you’ll find some treasures in there!   The jewels pick up on the blush colour in the small floral in the shirt.

Styled with a black (stretchy), ankle pant, a black mule with a kitten heel and a chunky rose quartz and pearl necklace and matching pearl earring.

STYLE HACK – I love the look of a ¾ sleeve and that’s super easy to achieve with a blazer too.  You can flip the cuff to just expose your wrist, bunch the sleeve up (like you would a sweatshirt) or use a traditional wide fold (folding the cuff back on itself two or 3 times). It gives the blazer a fresh, relaxed look.  Give it a try!
